DAY 02 LIMA -CUSCO
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cusco. Upon arrival transfer to selected hotel. Once capital of the Inca Empire, there are no words to describe the beauty of this city also named the "archaeological capital of Peru". From Cusco the army of the Inca empire traveled along the four "suyos" (roads) to conquer the world. The Incas arrived to Ecuador and Colombia to the north, to Bolivia and Chile to the south, the Pacific coast to the west. Their dynasty lasted from 1200 A.D. until the arrival of the Spaniards in 1533. Red tiled roofs and cobbled stone streets serve as a picturesque backdrop for an abundant variety of crafts and local musicians playing quena. Rest of the morning at leisure. Afternoon city tour including the surrounding ruins.

Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of Urubamba to visit the village of Pisac and its colourful market. After lunch visit Ollantaytambo fortress. Return to Cusco for overnight.

DAY 04 CUSCO - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
Early transfer to the station on time to catch the train to Machu Picchu. 120 Km from Cusco, hidden in the exuberant vegetation of the jungle in the Urubamba Valley, the Inca Citadel is found between the Huayna Picchu (young peak) and Machu Picchu (old peak). Its history is still a mystery, however there is a strong belief that it was built by the last Inca as a refuge from the Spanish conquerors. Since the discovery by Hiram Bingham in 1911, thousands of archaeologists have tried to unravel its history. The train journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu is a highlight of any trip to the Andes. The scenery is simply spectacular, and the recently refurbished "Vista domes" with their panoramic windows allow you to enjoy it in comfort. The 3 hour journey takes your clients through a changing landscape. First there is a steep climb out of Cusco into the surrounding hillside, by means of a series of switchback turns known locally as "the zig zag". Soon the train stops at the beautiful village of Poroy, and then descends into the Sacred Valley, passing by lush, green fields and colourful villages in the foothills of the Andes. From here on, there are wonderful vistas of the mountains and, deep in its dramatic canyon, the beautiful Urubamba River running through the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, bus transportation to the entrance of the ruins where the guided tour of the Lost City will start. Buffet lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Cusco and to the hotel.

DAY 05 CUSCO -PUNO
Leave by regular tourist bus service to Puno visiting en route the small village of Andahuaylillas and the remains at Racchi. Evening arrival in Puno and transfer to selected hotel. Lunch en route included. Puno is located on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world (3800 m / 12000 ft). There is a legend that states that Manco Capac and his wife Mama Ocllo, founders of the Inca Empire, emerged from the waters of Lake Titicaca. Surrounding the lake there are several small villages or colonial towns each of them with special characteristics. Folklore is part of their lives and there are innumerable festivals that make the area of Puno a fascinating region.
